It is the cerium complex of acetylacetone. ==Uses== Cerium acetylacetonate is used in the formation of mesoporous nanocrystalline ceria using the sol-gel process. The cerium source can be cerium nitrate, acetate or acetylacetonate, but the unique properties of cerium acetylacetonate yield this effect: the shorter length of the stabilizer's hydrocarbon chain, the smaller the crystallite size in the end product.
